I'm always willing to try new authors especially when the 1st time novelist prices his book to sell, and I'm glad I tried this one. To be honest, there are so any zombie novels on the market that it's rare when you find one that offers something new or fresh to the genre. That applies here, but I wasn't looking for something out of the ordinary for a zombie novel. I just wanted something that would be entertaining, and this novel certainly was. As far as the actual writing is concerned, the author did a very good job at switching between different characters, scenes, and times - it flowed smoothly and wasn't kludgy. Many of the characters were interesting and I found myself wishing for more of a backstory for some of them, which may be forthcoming in other novels. The only thing I found a little annoying was the author's overuse of parenthesis to convey something in the middle of another thought (you sometimes expect as much from a 1st-time author), but that seemed to only occur in the earlier chapters. When you see three sentences on the same page that use parenthesis the way I did in the previous sentence, it gets a little distracting and seems as if the structure of the work needs to be reworked. A very opinionated English professor once told me that parenthesis are for equations, not prose. The first chapter dragged on for me, but by the middle of the 2nd chapter the story had latched onto me and was pulling me along rather than having to plod through the story the way I've had to do with some authors. There's not a whole lot of blood and gore in this book, but the author still managed to convey the horror well. I look forward to future novels for these characters to see where the author takes them. I also look forward to some of the other novels the author teased in this book's Afterward. Very good novel and well worth the read.

Dead Fall eBook Joseph Xand Reviews
Saying I LOVED this book would be an understatement. A zombie novel that fans of books like The Stand by Stephen King and fans of The Walking Dead tv show will enjoy, Dead Fall is a unique gem among a sea of dystopian zombie novels. With multiple unique and intriguing story lines, you'll find yourself reading with bated breath, eager to know what happens next to each character, even the ones you love to hate.
Dead Fall starts off with excitement there is no waiting for a few chapters to get into the story, within the first few paragraphs we hear an awakening crash, I know your thinking car crash, no not in this book we have the dead falling from the sky. The moon is full and something is happening outside. So Thad grab his stab stick (aka umbrella) the number of daily corpses was growing and the numbers of the dead were gathering.
From the diary of Lizzy Glasgow is one of my favorite chapters, it gives an account of what has happened from coming out of hiding from the basement through the journey talking about experiences, encounters with the living and the dead. You feel the emotion as Lizzy reflects and how much can change from day to day, hunger and no place to stay to feeling safe and having shelter then right back.
The story is intriguing and you become eager to learn more about each character. The characters are all well written and read well, you end up loving some and really hating others.
I would recommend Dead Fall a Zombie Novel to anyone that enjoys Zombie shows and Movies, its a fast pace read.
Great. Gonna read it again. While impatiently waiting on book 2
I loved the ,3different simuLtaneously running groups stories, keeping it fresh
I was impressed by the amount medical details the author presented in the book to make the Zombie infection seem very believable. He clearly did his homework. The story follows a handful of colorful characters including a CDC doctor, a ragtag bunch of military misfits, two teen siblings, and an outcast loner, seamlessly jumping back and forth between each of their plights as the apocalypse unfolds and worsens. This book is on par if not better than "The Walking Dead." A must read!
I loved this book! I saw it and thought I'd give it a try. I didn't go into it with high hopes. It seems like a lot of zombie novels that if you've read one, you've read them all. This novel has an actual story line. If you're looking for gore and someone getting their face eaten off on every other page then this isn't the book for you. If you are looking for a great read that makes you want to keep turning the page then I highly recommend this book!
